born 1921 in Brighton. loved swimming and cricket, Was in church choir and scouts at All Saints Brighton. scout jamboree in Holland in 1937, Drama, joined RAF in 1938,pensioned off with war disability pension in 1942, worked in the war office in London as a precis writer in London until 1943, Married in Somerset in 1944, worked for Bristol aircraft as accountant, then in civil service in Bath, Period of Hospitalisation and rehabilitation. Oxford, Bath Uni 1948 to 1951, 1954, Westinghouse Brake and signal co as purchasing officer until retirement in 1975,after retirement I did a lot of walking with my wife, and travelling at home and abroad,also some research. Also did some voluntary work for the Probation service after retirement, I have a son Colin and a daughter Betty, 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Most of my life I have pursued Academic interests in tandem with my full time activities. From 1945 to 1975 I studied Philosophy, specialising in the 'History of Western Philosophy',From 1975 until the present time I have been reading 'Ancient History' with emphasis on The Carolingians and Charlemagne' and also the Plantagenets.
